"Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." ~Robert Heinlein
Regardless of what so many people's views on Valentine's Day are, I for one like to celebrate it.This Valentine's Day I had to babysit the kids at my place and I decided that we would still partake in it with doing a fun kid friendly activity. Anyone that knows me as their babysitter, knows that we do a lot of projects and even if they are young, I will try my hardest to get them to do it.
This year we made Valentine Rice Krispies. Isabelle who is 3 and Cass who is 18 months got to get all dirty and have some fun making yummy treats for our Valentine's.
Isabelle was very hands on, she put all the rice krispies in the bowl and even the marshmallows although a few were missing because this little guy kept eatting them.
I had so much making these treats with the kids because it was special to see there faces light up when we were all done. Experiencing the joy in little children is such a pleasure and as a hopeful mom-to-be, I can't wait to share these experiences with my own children. Just like my quote from the beginning of this blog explains that seeing another person happy is essential to your own, is very much true. These kids really did enjoy baking with me and didn't want to stop once everything was done. But unfortunately, I was tired after making these bad boys because I didn't realize that rice krispie treats harden up fast and we still had to cut hearts out of them. With two kids wanting to press the cuter down, that was not very fun :p
